Storage

Every piece of Anja Jewellery is sent with a microfiber pouch which we recommend you keep your jewellery in to prevent pieces from tarnishing, scratching or getting tangled.

Recommended Care Guidelines

Due to the delicate nature of our pieces, special care is required to ensure the longevity of each piece and maximise the lustre of the stones.

While we are proud to have our jewellery work with your lifestyle, we recommend the following to maximise the longevity of your pieces:

(1) Wear jewellery after application of any harsh chemicals such as perfumes, lotions, fake tan etc.

(2) Remove your jewellery before swimming, showering exercising and sleeping to avoid unnecessary wear and tear and scratching of your piece.

(3) When not wearing your jewellery, store it in a cool, dry place, preferably the provided microfiber pouch provided to prevent scratching, oxidisation. Also secure your chains in the clasp to avoid tangling.

To prevent the tarnishing or any damage to your jewellery, it is necessary to remove any dirt or chemical build-up that could react negatively with the metals and stones of your jewellery.

To keep your jewels in the best condition, we recommend following the guidelines specific to each material your piece is handcrafted with:

Metals

Solid 14 karat Gold

Our 14 Karat Solid Gold pieces are designed to last a life time. They will not tarnish in the shower or the ocean. However, due to this metals purity it has a more delicate nature. We recommend storing your piece in a dry place when unworn. For at home cleaning of your Anja Jewellery piece it is recommended to soak it in warm soapy water and gently use a soft tooth brush (particularly around the claws and setting). Pat your jewellery dry with a clean cloth and use a hairdryer on a low setting to dry any water left in any crevices.

Gold Vermeil

Our Gold Vermeil jewellery has been designed with an additional protective coating. For daily wear, you can expect the gold to last up to 3 years before showing signs of tarnishing. Alternatively, with occassional wear and careful maintenance, the coating may last upwards of 5 years.

To clean your jewellery, we advise the use of a microfiber cloth, avoid all harsh chemicals.

As Gold Vermeil has a Sterling Silver base, be advised that the metal is malleable. Take care when wearing and removing your jewellery (particularly earrings and bracelets) to avoid unnecessary bending.

Sterling Silver

Sterling Silver is a malleable metal so use care when wearing and removing your jewellery to avoid unnecessary bending (particularly with earrings, rings & bracelets).

It is normal for your Sterling silver piece to oxidise overtime, to prevent this we recommend wearing your silver piece often; as the natural oils in your skin help stop the process of tarnishing.

However, it is still recommended to avoid water, chlorine and chemicals so that your pieces don't lose colour or shimmer.

To care for your silver jewellery, use a microfiber cloth to clean and polish your jewellery. Sterling Silver pieces should be kept in an airtight container to prevent oxidisation.

Stones

Diamonds & Semi-Precious Stones

To clean your diamond jewellery, soak the jewellery in hot (not boiling) water with a few drops of gentle soap. Using a soft toothbrush, gently scrub gold and diamonds, be sure to get around the setting. Reminder: be gentle, you don't want stones to become loose from their setting or to scratch the jewellery.

Dry your jewellery using a hair dryer on a low setting. You will be thrilled to see your jewellery sparkle like new again in a matter of minutes!

Malachite

Malachite is an incredibly delicate stone which can easily discolour when it comes into contact with water or any chemical over time.

Avoid contact with water and chemicals.

Remove malachite jewellery prior to any strenuous activity, contact with water or chemicals.

Clean Malachite jewellery gently using a microfiber cloth.

Freshwater Pearls

If your Anja Jewellery includes pearls, please avoid the ocean, water and other chemicals, as the hole through the centre of the pearl may create a build up and may darken the pearl's original white appearance. Do not clean pearls with any chemicals, abrasives, or solvents.

Anja Jewellery is not responsible for the maintenance of your jewellery and does not polish purchased jewellery.
